The Bucky variant of Captain America pays tribute to the evolution of the character, after the dramatic events of the Civil War and the assassination of Steve Rogers which led the revived partner Bucky Barnes (the star of the epic saga of "The Winter Soldier") to fill the role of Captain America. The statue was sculpted by Randy Bowen and released in 2009 with an edition size of 800 copies; it has always kept prices of all respect in the collectors' market, due to the unquestionable charm of the new costume and its very original coloration. In fact, the scaled upper part of the suit is replaced by a smooth fabric, showing a wonderful blue metallic tone, while the vertical red and white stripes appear only upon the abdomen and end with an elegant V-shaped patch at the waist. Two white stars (besides to the classic ones centered on the chest and the back of the figure) are now present also on both shoulders, and even the red gloves exhibit a clear metallic tone. The rest of the suit (including boots) simulates a sort of black leather fabric that enhances the chromatic contrast of the whole figure. The statue is equipped with two interchangeable hands: one with a clenched fist and the other, faithful to a feature of the new character, holding a gun. At waist, there is a belt with a holster and plenty of pockets, while the shield is located at the left arm. The difference with Steve Rogers is also evident in the somatic traits, with a slightly more elongated face and two brown eyes instead of the classic, blue ones of the original super-soldier. Despite the dominant black prevents the use of color shades, the muscle contours on arms and legs (as well as the folds on the large boots) are clear and very well defined, thanks to an excellent sculpt. A truly original and high-level piece for all Marvel collectors!
